Can you imagine some baby chicken posing with cool ’80s hairstyles? Well, Dan Bannino, italian photographer, did it.
His passion for these cute animals took him to create a photographic series called “Chic Chicks”, to show the world just how beautiful they really are.
How did it all begin? A few weeks ago, Dan stumbled across an article about an unusual species of poultry called Paduan, that sparked his interest so much that he decided to travel to Padua to meet Andrea Pozzato, the reigning Italian champion of breeding chickens and who happens to be growing and looking after beautiful exemplars of this particular breed.
Fun and unique crowns of feathers resembling some ’80s coiffeur cover the chicks’ heads, and Dan turned these lovely animals in high fashion models by using gentle and colored lights, bringing out their elegant style and their quirky personalities, showing why we should all appreciate these interesting creatures.
Dan explains that “some of us don’t even realise how beautiful a ‘common’ chicken is. Through this project, I’m revealing the unusual beauty of these animals and emphasising the contrast between their exploitation and their extreme elegance.”
