An iPhone, a pencil and a creativity out of this world. Nothing more. Easy, right?
Anshuman Ghosh is a Johannesburg based artist. Initially started as a photographer, he soon realised that he couldn’t create the world he imagined with photography, so he decided to bring his creations to life through his paper and pencil (and iPhone) art.
In Ghosh’s fantastic illusions we see a smartphone turning into a toast machine, a pot, a window or a ketchup bottle. This effect requires a steady hand and acute attention to detail—Anshuman first sketches a drawing on paper, cuts it out, and aligns everything together. Together with the vibrant colors seen in his shots, this fun trick produces attractive illustrations that blur the line between reality and fiction.
“I wanted to create something that was a fusion between what was real and what was not,” Ghosh said on Instagram. “Placing the phone in the picture gives me the freedom to trick my audience into believing the phone is more than what it really is.”
